JEREMY MOORE – baritone
A native of a tiny town in the heart of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Jeremy J. Moore has been critically hailed as “terrific,” “a standout,” “engaging,” and even “amusing” by the New York Times. “Eloquently sung” “with a top notch voice,” “combining leading man looks with genuine comic timing and a superior voice made him worth the ride alone.” Mr. Moore began studying voice with Jeanne Kostelic in 1989. He made his operatic debut in the title role of Amahl and the Night Visitors at age ten. His performance experience continued to grow with the addition of numerous lead roles in children’s operas with the Aspen Opera Theatre Center, under the direction of Edward Berkeley, Carol Castel and Lawrence Foster, to name a few. Since then he has performed extensively in opera, oratorio, solo recitals, and solo and ensemble concerts throughout the United States and abroad.
Recent operatic highlights include staged productions of La Boheme (Marcello),The Magic Flute (Papageno), and Pagliacci (Silvio), and the New York stage premiers of The Poisoned Kiss (Gallanthus) and Die Drei Pintos (Ambrosio), all with the Bronx Opera Company; Les Pêcheurs de Perles (Zurga) with Taconic Opera; Villa Diodati (Lord Byron) with The York Theater Company and Bank Street Films; the title role in Don Giovanni with Delaware Valley Opera; The Merry Widow (Danilo) with Pineda Lyric Opera; and with Opera Company of the Highlands, La Boheme (Schaunard), Hansel & Gretel (the Father), and Amahl and the Night Visitors (Melchior). Mr. Moore has recently served as the cover for Samson et Dalila (Grand Prêtre) with St. Petersburg Opera (Florida) and HMS Pinafore (Cpt. Corcoran) with Opera New Jersey.
Concert performances include excerpts from H.M.S. Pinafore with the New Jersey Symphony, Lakmé (Frédéric) with the Connecticut Concert Opera; the world premier of two 21st century operas, Mark of Cain and The Human Zoo, with the Center for Contemporary Opera; opera excerpts with the U.S. Army's West Point Concert Band; L’elisir d’amore (Sgt. Belcore) and Il barbiere di Siviglia (Figaro) with the Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra; with the dell’Arte Opera Ensemble Act III of La Boheme (Marcello) in Merkin Concert Hall, Little Women (John Brooke), and Midsummer Night’s Dream (Demetrius); and Rigoletto (Marullo) with Opera Company of the Highlands. Mr. Moore made his European debut singing La finta giardiniera (Nardo) and Die Zauberflöte (Papageno) in Salzburg, Austria. Mr. Moore has twice been invited to sing for and to work with Mr. Hans Nieuwenhuis at the Opera Studio Nederland in Amsterdam.
Mr. Moore’s oratorio work includes several seasons with the Long Island Choral Society as both guest soloist and Artist-in-Residence for Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana and works by Duruflé, Haydn and Händel. He has been heard singing the bass solos in Händel’s Messiah with The Orchestra of the Bronx at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts and with the United States Military Academy choir in the grand Cadet Chapel at West Point, NY. Mr. Moore has performed as guest soloist for the college choirs of both the State University of New York (Carmina Burana) and the City University of New York (Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass and excerpts from the Brahms’ Requiem) and the Orange County Classic Choral Society (Dvorak Te Deum). He has been featured with the Aspen Choral Society and Orchestra, Aspen, Colorado in three world premiers of oratorios composed and conducted by Ray Vincent Adams, including baritone material written specifically for him, in addition to soloing for thirteen annual presentations of Händel’s Messiah.
