Sebastián Ferrada was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. He began to study singing in Chili, while completing his studies in Economy at the Universidad Católica. In 2008 he settled in Milan, where he studied with Vincenzo Manno at the Accademia Internazionale della Musica and the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala. He currently studies with Carlo Torriani.

In 2010, he began his solo career with the title role in Puccini's Edgar, at the Auditorium of Valladolid (Spain). He also sang the roles of Manrico (Il trovatore) and Radames (Aida). In that same year, he sang Don José (Carmen) and Verdi's Requiem in London.

In 2011, he sang the role of B.F. Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Argentino de La Plata (Argentina), with Tulio Gagliardo Varas conducting. In that same year, he won the 9th International Competition "Aida" of the Fondazione Arena di Verona. He sang Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) e Radames (Aida) with members of the Orchestra e Coro dell'Arena di Verona. He also took part in the concert series of the Arena di Verona.

In 2012 he sang for the first time the roles of Alfredo in Verdi's La traviata and Calaf in Puccini's Turandot, and in November of the same year he made his debut as soloist with the Fondazione Arena di Verona in the as Radames in Verdi’s Aida.

In 2013 he made his debut in important opera houses of Italy and Europe. He took the part of B.F. Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly, Puccini) at the Catania's Massimo Bellini Theatre, Manrico (Il Trovatore, Verdi) at the Croatian National Opera in Zagreb and once again at the Festival Lirico di Massa Marittima (Italy). During this year he also debuted the role of Torbeno in the Sardinian nationalist opera "I Shardana" by Ennio Porrino at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and made a cycle of concerts dedicated to Verdi's operas singing alongside Dimitra Theodossiu at the Opéra Théâtre de Saint-Etienne (France). In other productions he sang as Alfredo (La Traviata, Verdi), Il Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto, Verdi), Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca, Puccini) and made his debut in the roles of Macduff (Macbeth, Verdi) and Stiffelio (Stiffelio, Verdi).

Starts 2014 with his debut in the role of Nemorino (Elisir d’Amore, Donizetti) in a production of the historic Teatro Verdi di Busseto. He also made his debut as Rinuccio in G. Puccini's Gianni Schicchi. Other venues of this year will see him once again as  Nemorino (Elisir d’Amore, Donizetti), Il Duca di Mantova (Rigoletto, Verdi), Alfredo (La Traviata, Verdi) and his debut as Hoffmann in Offenbach’s opera Les contes d’Hoffmann.
